It Lives...Linda Nearly Doesn't!
Several starts and run-ups, and some general fettling and Linda working magic on the office in order to accommodate my long frame. I find myself trapped on only a few occasions but manage to escape by getting Linda to throw me a line. Eventually I develop a technique that allows me to enter and exit with some degree of cool and only needs the permanent dislocation of one shoulder. Linda is happy enough with the driving position.
We are ready to make our debut at York. Very appropriate. Trespasser’s spiritual home. We are pretty excited. We’d done a few RWYBs with our Cobra replica but this was “proper”.
We practice offloading and re-loading the slingshot from its trailer and whilst I hang around and check the tools we will take, Linda nips off home.
I return home and meet her as she is returning from the Post Office. She is in a state of shock...having just been thumped by the rear doors of a passing lorry as she walked down the pavement! The Trespasser Demon had followed her!
Fortunately there were witnesses. And as the local GP is only a few hundred yards away she is soon declared walking wounded. Internal bleeding in one arm, compression damage to some nerves, slight deafness in one ear, shock. Otherwise right as rain. We have little choice but to cancel the trip to York.
