Team Hector: Hot Rod Drags 2005
Friday:
Incredible, seems like the same traffic jam as this time last year! Arrived at Shakespeare County Raceway in the early evening after a 5 hour drive and found the place packed. Fortunately, Slitherin' Sid had saved a bit of a spot for us so we ended up amidst the main Wild Bunch mob. Sid had also found us a free replacement gearbox to help with our gremlins and so this was duly collected and a bit of a "thank-you" left in its place.
Saturday:
Some rain but not enough to halt proceedings for long. We signed on, fired up, and attempted to drive out of the pits...Only to find we couldn't get a gear...the clutch just wouldn't disengage. Plenty of movement on the arm, and no probs changing gear without clutch when engine not running. Thrust bearing? Aaaarrrgghhh!
Anyway, despite offers of assistance we decided to sideline Trespasser for the weekend and watch some racing. Highlight of the day had to be Mark Hartnell's Pinto-powered wheels. All hail the four banger! Nice one Mark.
Sunday:
Watched some wicked racing and snook away early. A move of house and change of job means our next outing is uncertain..So watch this space!
